At home

One of the reasons I went to Africa was that I wanted to see how societies other then mine face human needs.

Home is both a term and a concept that holds many ideas inside it in our society;  a shelter from from the environment and other people, a way to show our values and achievements and the fulfilment of our dreams. It is where we (should) feel safe and often it becomes part of our identity. It was an eye opener for me to see how necessity, traditions, resources and foreign influences impact homes in Northern Namibia. Seeing the Himba people whose house is but a shelter for the night, and the desert is their home made my question my ideas and beliefs.
